What’s new – September 2024

A new feature is coming this month that will certainly be appreciated by ufology enthusiasts: we are in fact working on adding Ray Palmer‘s magazine FLYING SAUCERS FROM OTHER WORLDS, the great classic published between 1957 and 1976, to our Pulp Magazines To Read List.
At the moment we have three issues ready, but we plan to include at least seven (for now) by the end of September.

AUDIOBOOKS

The Classic Horror Audiobooks section now features two works by the great Algernon Blackwood, “The Wood of the Dead” (1906) and “Secret Worship” (1908).
You can listen to the former, with all its intriguing folk horror, below

FIRST ISSUE EDITORIALS

The section dedicated to the first issues of each magazine expanded with the addition of 7 more editorials from

GIRL’S DETECTIVE MYSTERIES (1936)
GOLDEN FLEECE (1938)
IF (1952)
MANHUNT (1953)
MARVEL SCIENCE STORIES (1938)
MYSTIC (1953) and
SCIENCE FICTION PLUS (1953).

OLD COMICS

News also regarding our vintage comics.
The first 8 issues of Stan Lee‘s classic X-MEN (1963-1964) and 6 issues of MONTE HALE WESTERN (1948 – 1955) have been added to the list of available comics.
Also, the following issues now bolster their respective sections:

FLASH GORDON, 1 issue from 1942 (total = 8)
RIN TIN TIN AND RUSTY, 3 issues from May 1959, August 1959 and August 1960 (total = 8) and
PLANET COMICS, 2 issues from May 1943 and July 1948 (total = 9).

FLASH GORDON - No.10, 1942
FLASH GORDON no.10, unknown month, 1942.

Our choice to give precedence to the title also applies to FLASH GORDON, regardless of the number of authors and editors who have taken turns in their production. We believe that having the same title on the same page allows, among other things, to better evaluate the evolution of a character over time.

Ok folks, that’s all for now!

See you next month on
